You would hope there was light when late one night you’re driving on a B road and your car decides to eat a fallen branch that fancies itself as part of your suspension bits. A friend can always turn their car around and using their headlights you can possibly fix whatever problem it is you’re having. There are many situations though that require light concentrated where a headlight can’t reach. For times like that you’ll be thanking yourself you packed a small LED torch in your glove box. It could be the difference between a 5 minute break while you fix the problem or a 2 hour wait for road side assistance.

Years ago I would carry a bulky Maglite that would double as a hammer if needed. They really are that tough. These days though there are lots of cheap and compact LED options which have a more even spread of light than the classic light bulb ones. Even Maglite have a range of LED ones but save yourself some money by going with a cheap plastic one. That way you won’t be so cut when your friend borrows it and it’s never to be seen again.
