The Team Voodoo gear shift knob is all about performance and feel… with 2 servings of stylish and socially acceptable bling. I’m all for simple designs. Simple works because it’s simple and that’s the simple truth, to put it simply. Umm, so the Team Voodoo gear shift knob is a ball of metal. It’s pretty heavy so the gram shavers among you need not read further. This added weight though is a very welcome feature as it helps with your throw when changing gears. It has a real solid feel with positive feedback helping you to avoid missed gears and improve short shifting. This really is one time where added weight is a good thing.
Design wise, to quote myself, it’s simple. It does not pretend to be moulded to your hand with fancy styling, it’s just a round lump of metal. Surprisingly though, it could not have been designed better by the best ergonomics magicians (except the ones from Sweden maybe). The size is perfect in my slightly-smaller-than-average hands and I dare say would be comfortable to everyone but the giant freaks among you.
About the only thing it lacks is a H pattern which is a legal requirement in most countries. If you are concerned about this, your local keysmith should be able to engrave a H pattern for you, or you could buy from someone like Rick’s who even does custom pimp jobs.
Recently, the manufacturing and sales rights were sold to Thompson Automotive who will continue the line and expand to other styles and models so that more enthusiasts can put their hands on a good knob. ;)
